Yellowstone River-July at the Old Main Gallery

Yellowstone River-July is the first painting I did this summer for an exhibit at the Old Main Gallery. I started it in early July after the wet cool June we had. Lots of snow still but that disipated by the time I finished this painting. I love the contrast of the jagged peaks and the gentle flow of the Yellowstone this time of year.

Bridger Mountains-August at the Old Main Gallery

August was the month of orange sunsets and late season thunderstorms. This is one of my favorite views of the Bridgers with the dynamic rugged beauty of Ross Peak contrasting the accented minmulist lines on Hardscrabble and Sacajawea peaks.  "Bridger Mountains-August" can be seen at the Old Main Gallery  in downtown Bozeman.

Yellowstone National Park

It has been a couple years in the making, but I finally have my Yellowstone greeting card line for sale in Yellowstone National Park!   A pack of five cards specifically tailored for the Park. They are reproductions of my original oil paintings from my spirit animal series.

"My intention with the spirit animal series of paintings goes beyond my love for painting animals. I wanted to present these animals in an engaging intimate format where the eyes are the focal point, a view to the seat of the animal's spirit rather then a traditional approach to the genre of wildlife painting."

On the back of each card you will find interesting informational facts about that animal as well as guidance of what  each animal represents as a spirit guide. Enjoy!

Almost Spring

It's March, the temperatures are slowly warming and I am so over shoveling snow! Although very grateful for the abundant show pack, spring flowers can't come quick enough.

"Foothill Flowers" is one of my all time favorite pastel paintings. Spring in Montana has such intense saturated colors that are a challenge to paint. The fresh, alive hues can come off acrid in a painting, suffocating the beauty of spring. I felt I achieved a harmonious balance in this painting, successfully capturing a lush hillside and the cool soft clouds that are indicative to spring skies.

Foothill Flowers is 20" x 34" pastel on paper.
